Contest Participation



How do I submit a design to the contest?

First, download the design framework HERE. Once you have followed the instructions to create your design, log in to your account and choose “Submit a Design” from the “My Studio” menu. You will see an upload form on this page – use this to navigate to your PNG file on your computer and complete the upload. Our system will then render your design in 3D and place it in your Private Design. From there you can modify your design and formally enter it into the contest.

I submitted a design to the contest, why don’t I see it in the Critique list?

All design submitted are reviewed for conformance with our rules and policies. If you do not see your design in Critique after 1 full business day, contact us.

Can I resubmit a design if I'm not happy with it?

Yes. Log in and go to “My Submitted Designs” in the “My Studio” menu. You may remove your design from the contest. Beware, once the contest reaches the Vote phase, removing a design is permanent.

How many designs can I upload?

You can upload as many designs as possible. But remember, quality versus quantity.

How many colors can I use in my design?

We ask that a design not exceed 6 colors. Each shade and tint of a color count as colors. For example, if you are using Dark Grey and Light Grey, you would be using 2 colors. Black and white each count as a color as well. If you have some amazing masterpiece that exceeds this criteria but think the world should see it, please contact us here: creative[at]ryz.com.

When will designs be put up for Voting?

The Critique phase lasts 2 weeks and designs chosen by the creative panel will be placed into the Vote gallery immediately afterward.

Why didn’t my design make it to the Vote phase?

We attempt to move as many designs as possible into Vote. The creative panel will review all designs for a number of factors including:
a) Ratings and comments a design receives.
b) Did the designer follow the guidelines?
c) Did the designer put some thought into a concept or story?
d) Did the designer take into consideration the wearability of their design?
e) Did the designer showcase an overall 'above average' quality of work?

How are the winning entries chosen?

The contest Creative Panel, Journeys, and RYZ will collaborate to examine to following factors when choosing the winner(s):
a) Vote data
b) Artistic quality
c) Commercial viability

Do I keep the rights to my artwork?

According to the terms of this contest, we retain rights to the artwork you upload for a period of 90 days unless it is chosen for commercial purposes. Please refer to the terms HERE for an official explanation.

What should I do if I don't receive the Account Activation email?

First, check your junk mail folder. If it's nowhere to be found, contact us.

What if I forget my username/password?

You can reset your password by entering your username or password HERE

Can I change my username?

Sorry, you get one shot to pick your username. If you don't like it, you are free to cancel the first and sign up for another account.

Can I cancel my account?

Yes. Log in to your account and click Edit Profile. There is a link at the bottom of the page to cancel your account. Beware, this cannot be undone.

Who is RYZ?

RYZ is an up-and-coming shoe brand that sources its designs from professional and aspiring artists. RYZ shoes are sold at select Journeys stores, Journeys online at Journeys.com, as well as RYZ.com
